Jordan Knight/Blizzards/Oscar gripes and more!

So I disappeared fpr a few days but I'm back to blogging.

On Friday night, Katie and I went to see - oy vey - Jordan Knight. AGAIN. It's weird because my New Kids on The Block silliness used to incorporate Meli, Gina and Stacy almost exclusively. But as life went on we gave it up stopping to see Joe McIntyre in a show somewhere maybe or call each other when Donnie Wahlberg showed up on TV. Now that Jordan is touring and generally embarassing himself on stage and on TV - and when Katie and I met a year ago and discovered our common bond of New Kids fandom - well - the silliness is back on.

So off Katie and I went to Irving Plaza to see Jordan Knight. We suffered through a ton of awful opening acts all a minimum of ten years younger than me. Why is a 34 year old guy touring with a bunch of kids? Bad idea. But he looked VERY cute and his new stuff sounded good. What Rob Base was doing there singing "It Takes Two" and "Joy and Pain" is beyond me. It was weird. Fun. But strange.

And then came the blizzard which dumped a few feet of snow on NYC and the surrounding areas. My stupid mall refused to close early but allowed us to consult our corporate offices and close whenever they said so. So at 6pm on Saturday we were one of the last stores left that was still open. Business was horrible. As was Sunday. I didn't mind working through the blizzard really. It was getting there and back that was the annoying part.

I know that this post is all over the place but I'm trying to catch up. What the hell is going on with the Oscar nominations?!?! No Kevin Bacon for "The Woodsman"? No Michael Moore? No Mel Gibson? No Paul Giamatti? How the hell do they nominate Kate Winslet (who was wonderful) but not Jim Carrey for "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"? These awards shows prove over and over again that they disregard creativity and continue to hold grudges. It makes me not want to watch this year. They have oeverlooked so much great work this time. Hopefully at the very least Jamie Foxx will win best actor.
