Rob Evan and Mandy Gonzalez rock my socks - so does our new coffeemaker

Went to see an absolutely amazing show at Joe's Pub last night. It was a concert featuring the music of Jim Steinman called "Over The Top." That's an appropriate name for a Jim Steinman concert as his music truly is - well - over the top. It's larger than life, dramatic, loud, powerful and can be goofy and even a tad campy at times but that's why I really like his music. While it seems like 99% of theatergoers loathed "Dance of the Vampires" I loved it in spite of all its faults. Seeing Rob Evan, Mandy Gonzalez, and Elaine Caswell sing Steinman's music - everything from "Bat Out Of Hell" to "Dance of the Vampires" to some new songs composed for upcoming projects - was wonderful. It was a goosebump-inducing evening from beginning to end. Rob Evan and Mandy Gonzalez duetted on "Braver Than We Are" from DOTV and when the music started playing my mom and I started clapping like geeks. They looked right at us and smiled and Rob Evan pointed at us. Hee hee! Other highlights for me were Mandy Gonzalez singing "Total Eclipse of the Heart", Rob Evan singing "For Crying Out Loud", and Rob Evan and Elaine Caswell singing "I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That.)"

And now for something completely different (can you tell I watched Monty Python recently?) Gaspar and I bought another new coffeemaker after I broke yet another pot. And now I will never break another coffee pot again. Seriously! Because with our new coffeemaker there is no pot! It's a Brew Station. All the water and the coffee goes into the machine and then there is a dispenser where you place your coffee cup and the coffee comes out! It's awesome!

And two miscellaneous items -
Eddie Izzard has signed on to film a pilot for a new black comedy series where he portrays an Irish con man. Yippee!

And Gaspar made up a new definition for the word "unbearable." It now means "the inability to be a bear." Ha! So if you are in a situation that is - er - unbearable, remember the new definition and it will make you laugh and make things a little more - well - bearable. Ha! I know - it's dumb. But it's funny. :o)
