I'm having a great vacation so far!
On Tuesday night my father and I went to see "Spamalot" - by Eric Idle, based on Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I have seen tons of shows, many in their prime (Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in "The Producers" for example) and I can easily say that this was one the best. most creative, most hilarious, most ingenous shows I have ever seen! Honestly my body ached at the end of the night from laughing so hard!
There isn't a single slow moment in the show, very evenly paced. The musical numbers, while completely hysterical, are also quite good! It's like The Holy Grail to the zillionth degree. It encompasses much of the movie so all the best parts are there but then they are greatly expanded. There are elements of other Python bits too. But much of the show is completely original written specifically for this show. Even the Playbill is funny!
I don't want to write in detail about the show because I think everyone should go see it and there are som any surprises I don't want to ruin. With a cast that includes Tim Curry, Hank Azaria, and David Hyde Pierce you just can't go wrong! (Let's not forget Christopher Sieber who is also fantastic!) It lives up to the hype and more. GO SEE IT!
More later!
