When Gaspar and I went to see them at the Beacon a few months ago, Glen talked about watching Elliott Smith perform on the Oscars ten years ago and how he cheered him on at home. And how great it would be if he and Marketa got to perform. Well, last night was their night. I had goosebumps when thgey played and I screamed when they won!
And in what might be an Oscar first, Glen got to finish his speech but Marketa was played off. When the show returned from commercial break, Jon Stewart invited Marketa back to give her speech. People get played off the Oscars all the time! I've never seen anyone get a second chance to enjoy their moment.
The crowd seemed to be very behind them. Colin Farrell introduced them (and seemed to be a fan himself) and the crowd really cheered for them. And when their nomination came up cheers followed again. They looked thrilled and surprised when they won. It was so wonderful to watch!
Here are some photos and video clips....
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Heather, you mention Colin Farrell but you forgot to include Laura Linney. The camera kept cutting to her several times during not just the performance but especially when they won. The mile-high smile she had on her face made it pretty darn evident that she was most certainly a fan! Besides, she knew she wasn't gonna win so she was probably happiest to see them do it.
