Stephen Colbert is my friend

http://feathah.blogspot.com

I am a huge fan of Stephen Colbert. Even bought his book, went to a signing, went to a taping of his TV show last year. I love him! He's brilliant. Gaspar and I watch The Colbert Report every night.

On his show, he wears a red Wrist Strong bracelet - long story, he broke his wrist on the show and thought there should be a cause to champion his condition, made the bracelet to raise "wrist awareness" - hilarity ensued. The idea when you wear one of Colbert's bracelets is to give it to someone more famous than you if you get to meet them. Astronaut Garrett Reisman recently wore his into space. He did a live remote from space on The Colbert Report, showed his bracelet, spun it around it in anti-gravity and talked about the mission

His mission is over and he appeared on the show again - this time in person. At the end of the interview Resiman offered to give his bracelet (which he joked he wrote secret self destruct codes for the space station on the inside) to Colbert since he is more famous. Colbert suggested they switch bracelets because he is an astronaut and doesn't think he is more famous than he is. So they traded bracelets.

Now what does this have to do with my awesome autographed photo? About a week after Garrett Reisman appeared on The Colbert Report I'm at work and receive a phone call. From The Colbert Report. They start to explain the astronaut bracelet. I tell them I'm a huge fan and know all about it.  Well, they were trying to find a way to display the bracelet in his office but weren't having any luck. They were hoping for a jewelry holder of some kind, were calling different stores but no one could or would help. I gladly offered to give them a couple of different things they might be able to use.

So this week at work a package came. It was from The Colbert Report. Inside was an autographed photo! If you can't read his handwriting, it says "Stay Strong." YAY! Also inside were a couple of wrist strong bracelets and a note from his assistant saying his bracelet from space was now on display thanks to me. AWESOME!

Stephen Colbert is my best friend. :)
