HAVE YOU MET TED? How I Met Your Mother

For quite awhile now, my friend PJ has been insisting I watch the TV show "How I Met Your Mother." And it was one of those shows that slipped by me. When it first debuted, I have to admit, I dismissed it as yet another Friends knockoff that was doomed to fail. As it turns out it gained an audience and was not as Friends-like as the commercials made it appear. But now it was too late. I missed it. PJ assured me it would be worth my time to get the first season and catch up. But I just never got around to it.

So about two months ago PJ literally handed me the first season on DVD and told me "Watch it. You will love it." And I had every intention of starting it that night. I made an honest attempt but only had a chance to watch the first two episodes. I thought I'd try again. But then you know how life is. Didn't happen.

Now this past Fourth of July I woke up early. It was my first 4th off in five years. I just wanted to chill out. So I finally threw in disc 1...OH MY GOD! I am completely obsessed now! Over the course of the weekend - before work, after work, between things - I watched the entire season in three days. This show is brilliant! It's funny, sweet, intelligent, and quirky. And holy crap is Neil Patrick Harris a total genius? He steals every scene he is in. I love it so much I think I need to add the name of the show to my blog header. :)

I am having serious How Met Your Mother withdrawal now! What happens after season one? The season ender was such a cliffhanger. I am so totally invested in these characters now it's embarrassing! I think about them like they are real people - What is happening with Marshall and Lily? Is Ted finally happy? What's going on with Robin? Will Barney "suit up"? It's sad, really. But thankfully PJ is going to give me my fix this week with Season Two. And hopefully I can catch up on Season 3 in time for Season 4 this fall.

Thank you, PJ, for my new addiction!
