I hope everyone had a nice New Years! 2006! Whoooooooooooooo...
Mine was pretty uneventful. Gaspar had to work as usual and I had to work at my craptastic new job early on New Year's Day so I stayed home, had Chinese food, drank some wine, and IMed Meli in CT who was doing the same thing. Seeing Dick Clark was pretty jarring yeah? At least he's back and doing ok.
So those of you reading this know I worked for my previous company for 3 years or so. Well, I left that job and I'm now entertaining the buying public as a reinvented Retail Diva at a new company. Maybe it's the fact that all expertise, senority and comfort has been stripped away now that I'm some place new. But I'm not exactly loving the new job. This can be evidenced by the fact I cried all the way to the subway in my parents car yesterday morning saying "I made the wrong decision!" Now that I have a little more clarity I think I just need to give it time. My new boss and the staff are pretty fantastic.
The customers, however, are of a totally different variety. Instead of shoplifting, broke mall trash I'm dealing with wealthy, snobby, demeaning people with a sense of entitlement. I've dealt with that type before but this breed throws stuff at you, drops the F bomb and tears you limb from limb verbally. In a week I've already been called an idiot, a beeyotch, the lovely C word (edited in case my little cousins read this - ha), and asked if I could tell the difference between my gluteous maximus and elbow. Joy!
But now for something completely different... KARAOKE FUN!
Gaspar singing something. He sang a lot! I think it was either "Tainted Love" or "Rainy Day Women." Maybe "Magic Carpet Ride"?
Bruce singing - probably "Du Hast" or "Rock Me Amadeus." In German!
Kevin singing. Probably a Hilary Duff song. HA! (Kidding - but not entirely impossible!)
Me butchering "Supernova" by Liz Phair.
Stacy, Gina, and Meli - you'll appreciate this - Kevin and I sang "Step By Step" by the New Kids On The Block. Wooooo we rock!

How was Kevin's "perfect pitch"? I'm sure it was right on key. Yeah, Kev... Riiiiiiight.
Bummer about the job. Sorry to hear that.
Happy New Years!
