I still love you Jeffery Carlson

Everyone knows that One Life To Live is my soap opera but lately I have been cheating on them with All My Children. I used to be an AMC addict but have watched it only on and off for the last 6 years or so. Well I'm back on again due to the addition of Zarf/Zoe played but Broadway's Jeffery Carlson. Zarf/Zoe is the first transgendered character on a soap opera. I feel strongly about transgendered issues and thought AMC would handle this storyline responsibly. They did an amazing job with Bianca's coming out story. It was actually quality storytelling.

But this Zarf/Zoe thing? I'm sorry. I know they are trying hard to put forth a well-written, researched story about a male-to-female transgender person. But they are failing miserably! All it is turning out to be is campy hysterical fun. I'm actually a fan of Jeffery Carlson. He was brilliant in Taboo where he played, surprise, and character named Marilyn. (Who was also a rockstar - same as Zarf/Zoe - but was a transvestite, not transgender - which is completely different.) But I think his over-the-top acting isn't helping. It's completely fun to watch though!

I am totally enjoying this storyline but sadly it's not going to do much to help people understand what it is to be transgender.

Anyway, double click above. And don't miss the last line - it's just, wow!
