Madeleine L'Engle

Mom and Madeleine L'Engle

Madeleine L'Engle, who wrote "A Wrinkle In Time" among many other books, passed away today. She is one of my mother's favorite authors. Mom even had the opportunity to attend a retreat with her back in the 80's when I was growing up.

I remember she brought back a copy of "A Wrinkle In Time" for me signed by Madeleine L'Engle who wrote "For Heather - best wishes for successful tessering" in beautiful handwriting. I didn't know what it meant at the time. I asked Mom what she meant. She told me to read her books and I would know. If you are asking the same question, I encourage you to pick it up.

I eventually read "A Wrinkle In Time" along with the rest of the series and many more of her novels. She was a truly gifted and insightful writer with vivid imagination, spirituality and heart. She will be missed. Thankfully, she left the world the gift of her books.
