New Year, Little Women, other ramblings

I went to see Little Women on Broadway with my parents, my friend PJ, his girlfriend Lise, and PJ's friend Marion. I am a really huge fan of the book, read the entire trilogy so I'm very protective of Jo, Meg, Beth, Amy, Marmee, Prof. Bhaer, Laurie and the rest. Since the show is still in previews I think it's unfair to be too critical. There are definitely some faults in the production but overall I really enjoyed it. It's pretty faithful to the book and the actors really get the characters right. Sadly, Sutton Foster was not in. She, of course, plays Jo and I am a big fan of hers. Oh well! Another reason to see the show again! Since Sutton was out her standby, Julie Foldesi, went on for the very first time with only a few hours notice! She was really wonderful! I can't imagine what that must have been like for her.

New Year's was low-key and nice. Gaspar and I spent it with our friends Kerri and Kim and a few others. Good drinks, good conversation. I feel like I'm getting old - no big party and no desire to go to one! I do really miss the days of hanging with one of my best friends, Meli, in CT on New Year's. It's been a couple years since we spent New Year's together. I'll try to fix that for 05/06. It's hard to believe that one the best New Year's ever - in Boston with Meli and my friend Stacy and Gina at a Joey McIntyre concert (hee hee!) - was FIVE years ago! Where has the time gone!

My new year's resolution is a really stupid one but I hope to keep it anyway. No reading One Life To Live spoilers! The show is predictable as it is but in order for there to be any suspense or surprise at all I vow not to visit any soap spoiler sites in 2005. Ha!

My cousin Anthony, age 14 and more punk rock than I ever was, spent Xmas and New Year's here in NY. Strange to think I saw this kid take his first steps! Gaspar and I took him to the city last week. We went to the Chelsea Hotel so he could see where Sid (allegedly) killed Nancy. We took pictures all over the place and Gaspar bought him a keychain for Room 100 where it all went down. The look on Ant's face was priceless. Then we took him to CBGB where my too-cool-for-the-room cousin has a permanent grin on his face. Took pictures in front of the club, at the lamppost where the Ramones took their picture and then inside because Gaspar asked Hilly if we could go in. He got to sit on the stage and everything. It's funny because CBGB is not a tourist attraction to me at all. It's a dirty gross club that I have been to a thousand times. But Anthony was extremely impressed. It was so cute!

Well I have rambled enough for one post. Adios!

I hate to break the news to you, but you are getting old. The fact you got out Monday says it all.
